Description

Established in 1986, St. Elizabeth Shelter is the only full-service homeless shelter in Santa Fe and all of Northern New Mexico. From its beginnings in a small house on Don Gaspar Avenue with homeless men sleeping on mats in the basement, St. E’s today operates two emergency shelters - one for men and the other, Casa Familia, for women and families with children - three supportive housing programs for seniors, families and adults with disabilities, a twice-weekly Resource Center providing meals, clothes and other services, and a monthly Homeless Court in conjunction with the Santa Fe Municipal Court. All programs share the same goal - to work together with homeless men, women and children to help them find employment, address pressing healthcare, behavioral and/or substance abuse issues, obtain benefits, enroll and thrive in school, secure permanent housing and return to independent living.
