Mission Statement

Global Water Dances' mission is to inspire action, leadership and international collaboration for environmental water solutions through the universal language of dance.

Description

GWD’s primary program orchestrates a biennial, worldwide event of outdoor dance performances illuminating the chronic disaster of world water crises, inspiring and empowering citizens to take action. GWD uses the universal language of dance based on a foundation of multidisciplinary scientific principles to promote action toward clean, safe and sustainable water all around the world. The site-specific performances are free and open to the public, educating and engaging audiences through the power of synchrony, aesthetic accessibility, and integrative learning. Volunteers around the world have reported back that being a part of the GWD community has been energizing and inspiring in pursuing water solutions. GWD has partnered with over 40 environmental organizations and 60 arts organizations on local, national, and international levels. Since its inception, GWD has reached over 25,000 audience members and involved over 1,500 volunteers.

A wonderful organization with a great cause and a unique way of propagating awareness. My experience as a volunteer with GWD has been great and the GWD team is great to work with, helpful and pro active.

I love a lot of things about the organization: it is just beautiful. The art, the culture, the cause.
