Mission Statement

PROVIDING TRAINED SERVICE DOGS TO HELP SAVE THE LIVES OF RETURNING COMBAT VETERANS SUFFERING FROM PTSD.

Description

We rescue and train service dogs for veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress. We first work with local shelters and rescues to find potential dogs, which are then extensively evaluated by our dog training team. These dogs can be in training anywhere from 6 months to a year before they can pass the Public Access Test with their handler. We provide our dogs at no charge to the recipients. Fetching Freedom chooses to follow all guidelines and standards set by Assistance Dogs International.

Our veterans learn to work the dogs, address the public, and become knowledgeable on all of the rules and regulations involved with having an assistance animal.

Together we hope to kill the stigmas associated with PTSD. It is not a sign of weakness to have it, and it is not a sign of weakness to get the tools needed to survive with it.

Medicine may be able to heal the body, but dogs can heal the soul.
