Safe Haven of Iowa County (SHIC) is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter located in Iowa County, Iowa (30 miles West of Iowa City,Iowa). Our mission is:

  • To rescue
  • Protect, and
  • Find homes for stray, abused, and abandoned companion animals

Description

Safe Haven serves all of Iowa County including the towns of Williamsburg, Parnell, Marengo, the Amanas, North English and Victor. It is the only animal shelter in Iowa County serving a population of 15, 671.

Safe Haven began in 2005 with the rescue of three dogs slated for euthanasia in the Iowa County pound. Since then Safe Haven has sheltered over 200 cats and dogs and found 'forever' homes for almost 200 animals.
