Mission Statement

Opera Vivente's mission is twofold: to attract new audiences to opera through innovative and unusual productions and to support local talent in both the performance and design realms.

Description

Our intimate performance space in the heart of the Mt. Vernon Cultural District creates an exciting bond between performers and audience, and we encourage audience members to respond emotionally to what's happening on stage.

Performances exclusively in English allow you to focus on the drama--not on reading cumbersome supertitles. Audience members will experience many works that would otherwise not be presented in the area, as well as innovative and thoughtful stagings of standard works.
