Description
Now entering its 78 th year, Maine Appalachian Trail Club’s mission is to keep the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) in Maine, from Grafton Notch to Katahdin, an unspoiled, natural and primitive footpath through a most scenic and challenging terrain. MATC is not a recreational hiking club. It is an organization of community volunteers who contribute more than 24,000 hours annually to manage, repair and protect 267-miles of the A.T. MATC’s volunteers epitomize the hardworking, independent spirit of Maine, without the 78-year dedication of volunteers, Maine’s Appalachian Trail would not exist.
