Description

Gentiva Hospice & Home Health providing palliative care and hospice to patients nationally. Palliative care is the aggressive management of pain and disease symptoms of terminally ill patients. Hospice is no longer just cancer patients...we help those those coping with terminal illnesses such as congestive heart failure, COPD, Alzheimers and Dementia. We offer end of life care education, support, community education and bereavement counseling. Assisting with advance directives and DNR education, providing 24/7 clinical care when needed and using volunteers to enhance the quality of our patient's lives. We strive to provide every patient the compassionate care and dignity we would want for ourselves and our loved ones. Gentiva Hospice also offers bereavement services to the family for a minimum of 13 months following the death of their loved one. Gentiva believes our work is our calling and no hospice patient should EVER have to die alone.

I've been a volunteer with Odyssey Hospice for 4 years after finding this local organization on VolunteerMatch. I like that there are various volunteer opportunities which all allow enough flexibility to make volunteering feel like an easy commitment. I am able to be involved & give back to the community in a way that fits my schedule. I've been able to witness the staff and their commitment to Odyssey's mission, and they go above and beyond to provide the utmost quality care. It's an honor to be associated with such a devoted organization.
