Mission Statement

Feed Washington's mission is to help solve childhood hunger in Washington state by raising funds for local organizations that provide direct aid to Washington's 300,000 hungry kids. There are plenty of controversial societal problems for us to debate, but feeding hungry kids isn’t one of them. Let’s solve childhood hunger, now, and then put our collective attention to the next, most vulnerable group that needs our help.

Description

Feed Washington is solving childhood hunger in Washington state one school, one neighborhood, one child at a time. The process is simple:

1. We go into a neighborhood and work with the people on ground level feeding kids to determine the number of hungry kids in each school in that neighborhood, and

2. We reach out to the businesses, the alumni of the schools, and the current residents of that neighborhood to create a recurring donation stream sufficient to feed the hungry children any meals, both during the school week and weekends, they are not provided at school.

We started in Ballard, Washington, and are going one neighborhood at a time until we know every child in Washington is fed, at home and at school, during the entire school year. Once that goal is complete, then we’ll take on summer hunger next.
