Mission Statement

In a spirit of solidarity, we partner with communities in Bolivia and Paraguay to increase access to safe, affordable surgery and other essential health care.

Description

Solidarity Bridge builds a healthier future with the people of Bolivia and Paraguay through domestic and international partnerships. In a spirit of mutuality, we train and equip medical communities, empowering them to provide high-complexity surgery and other health care for patients who lack access to treatment.

Through our partners, we operate four year-round surgical programs in general surgery, gynecologic surgery, heart surgery, and neurosurgery. Medical mission trips support these programs, bringing US doctors and nurses to Bolivia and Paraguay to work with local physicians, surgeons, nurses, and other medical personnel. Additionally, on our annual Multi-Specialty Mission Trip, US missioners work alongside their Bolivian colleagues to provide care to hundreds of patients in need.

I’ve been volunteering with Solidarity Bridge since November 2015. It's a fabulous organization with warm, welcoming staff that is grateful and appreciative of volunteers’ contribution. I was invited for an interview soon after applying through Volunteer Match. The Executive Director and Operations Manager devoted significant time in knowing my background/interests and welcomed me aboard! The best part about working with Solidarity Bridge is that they endeavor to match volunteers’ skill sets/interests with the assignments. The organization provides healthy balance between directing volunteers(as required) while encouraging work autonomy. Office environment is positive, friendly and inclusive. New ideas are welcomed. Volunteers are made to feel an integral part of team by encouraging their participation in official meetings and social events. Join to the mission to help Bolivian communities access cutting edge medical/surgical care. I would highly recommend coming aboard!

I have been volunteering with Solidarity Bridge 10 hours/week for the last 2 years. This is a well-organized charity that leverages volunteer support very smartly. The roles being recruited for are high impact and offer substantial opportunity to learn new skills and/or function in a professional capacity. I have found the staff at Solidarity Bridge to be warm and welcoming and deeply appreciative of their volunteers. I highly recommend coming aboard!
