Mission Statement

The Chicago Lung Run is an annual run, walk and rally held in Chicago, Illinois. The Chicago Lung Run's mission is to increase awareness of lung cancer and raise funds for lung cancer research. The 2007 Chicago Lung 5K Lung will benefit The Lungevity Foundation and the Chicago Lung Oncology Group (CLOG) to raise funds for research designed to treat and cure lung cancer, the leading cancer killer of American men and women. The Lungevity Foundation (www.lungevity.org) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) national organization that partners with the foremost physicians and research scientists in the world to fund innovative research designed to treat and cure lung cancer. The Chicago Lung Oncologists Group (CLOG) is a consortium of Chicago-based oncologists carrying out cutting-edge lung cancer research. CLOG comprises of oncologists from Rush University Medical Center, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Northwestern Evanston Hospital, Loyola University Hospital, John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County, and University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago.

Description

The Chicago Lung Run is an annual event that is comprised of a 5k run, 1-mile walk, and a rally that attracts participants from across the country. The rally features national renowned oncologists, leading advocates and lung cancer survivors, delivering a call to action. The Chicago Lung Run currently is applying for 501(c)(3) status. Its major program is the 5K run and walk. Additionally, The Chicago Lung Run actively participates in events that promote lung cancer education and awareness, including American Lung Association's Catch Your Breath seminar.
