Mission Statement
To provide high quality legal representation for immigrants and to advocate for human rights.
Our priorities are on detained immigrant women and children, battered immigrant women, people fleeing persecution in their home countires and seeking asylum, and low-income workers.
Description
Located in the border and gateway city of El Paso, Texas, Las Americas recognizes the importance of our countries history of providing safe haven for those fleeing unjust and oppressive situations.
By providing critical legal services to underserved immigrants in our community, Las Americas has become a place where people can come seeking hope, unencumbered, feel their own dignity, and are empowered by their struggles. Through our efforts, the community is made aware of the need to protect immigrants' rights, the value of immigrants in our community and the many gifts they bring to this nation. In turn, Las Americas' role as a community educator on issues affecting the people we serve can foster increased volunteerism and renewed community support across partisan lines.
We have five projects:
Asylum Project
Battered Immigrant Women Project
Justice for Women and Children Project
Worker Justice Project/Apoyo Trabajador
Unifying Families Project
