For more than 20 years, Camp Care-A-Lot has been helping low-income children realize a future beyond anything they could have imagined and providing them with the tools to achieve their future goals and dreams!
We transform the lives of the children who come to camp. Transforming Lives Through A Camping Experience! Camp Care-A-Lot has been transforming lives through residential camp experiences for low-income children and adolescent youth all from Central Illinois.
Camp Care-A-Lot is a unique opportunity for children to experience the skills needed to alleviate their concerns while helping them with the tools needed to live healthier and safer lives. Throughout our 20 years, we have provided many weeks full of educational, social and recreational activities to prepare children for a brighter life. Children leave camp "owning" the knowledge they can be successful no matter where they come from. Upon meeting, children learn a pledge that is repeated multiple times daily until children truly believe it. They state:
"I am a kid at hope. I am smart, talented and capable of success. I have dreams for the future and will strive each day to reach those goals". In return, adults face campers and state: "As an adult and a treasure hunter I am committed to searching for the gifts, talents and intelligences which exist in all children and youth. I believe that ALL CHILDREN ARE CAPABLE OF SUCCESS--NO EXCEPTIONS!"
What a wonderful way to establish communication, relationships and trust, to get children on the right track to a positive future. During camp the children and staff partner together to find the special uniqueness in each child and talk about how they can use those traits as they grow up.
