Mission Statement

We provide for basic needs such as food, shelter, encouragement, and assistance in creating a better life for the homeless and marginalized, especially those who are underserved.

Description

We have a 257 bed homeless shelter at 2715 W. Harrison St. and a soup kitchen at 1645 W. Le Moyne St. Both locations are open every day of the year. We have another overnight shelter with 70 beds for men only at 200 S. Sacramento. At the beginning of 2013 we started a Day Program at 10 S. Kedzie. We also help the underserved through case management services at the shelter, from St. Peter's Church, and at our Marquard Center where we serve dinner. We serve an average of 4,255 different individuals each year.

Please read through the information of the volunteer services we need then go to www.franoutreach.org click volunteer opportunities, click each section read through and in the soup kitchen and shelter areas you will find a calendar with open dates on them - it will state need (#) of volunteers when we have openings. There is also an application that needs to be filled out and submitted before you can schedule volunteer hours.

Thank you for your interest!

It has something that I can't even descrive, a feeling of satisfaction to give some one a warm meal and see them smile. Very nice people, I enjoy it so much I will do it every week.
