Mission Statement
Friends of the Family offers support and friendship to children and their families in the Winchester area. Our purpose is to make a positive difference to the families we work with and improve the life chances of children born into vulnerable families.
Description
Friends of the Family is an independent, registered charity established in 1993. We offer confidential support to families, in Winchester and surrounding villages, who are experiencing challenges and are in need of help, advice and friendship. Our services include: 1. A mums and under 5s support group offering mums with pre-school aged children a safe, confidential environment in which to share issues they are facing with each other and a psychotherapist, whilst children are supervised by a trained play leader and volunteers; 2. Support for children aged 5 to 13 who are facing challenging circumstances and would benefit from a volunteer be-friender to offer support and friendship on a weekly basis in the child's home; 3. A dads support group offering confidential support to men with children aged 0 to 5 years who are struggling with their role as a parent and experiencing challenges within their family environment.
