Description

Foster Friends of North Carolina (FFNC) is a non-profit charitable organization that was created in 2005 to serve children in Guilford County's foster care system. We have a strategic plan that provides for statewide implementation by the year 2011. FFNC's goal is to provide programs and services to every child in the state of North Carolina who experiences foster care.

The JOURNEYS Mentoring Program is designed for children ages 11 to 17 and provides unconditional support and meaningful relationships with adult mentors. Mentors experience arts and athletic events, recreational activities, educational planning, community service projects, and life skills workshops with the foster child they are matched with. Mentors are required fill out a lengthy application as well as go through extensive background checks to ensure that foster children are safe with them. Mentors are also required to participate in 20 hours of training before they are matched with a child, as well as attend on-goinging training, support groups and activities.
