Mission Statement

Since its inception in 1982, BIA-MA has been a leading advocate for providing adequate services in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to persons who experience brain injuries and to their families. Additionally, BIA-MA serves as a clearinghouse for information and resources, actively promotes awareness of preventive measures to reduce the incidence of brain injury, and sponsors educational conferences and training for caregivers, survivors, and medical professionals.

Description

Although there is no cure, most traumatic brain injuries are preventable. Through collaboration with state agencies, schools, and the courts, BIA-MA has developed programs to teach children and adults how to prevent brain injuries. Our campaigns to increase the use of seat belts, child car seats, and helmets have reduced the number of brain injuries. In addition, our initiatives to reduce drinking and driving have been effective in curbing irresponsible behavior.
