Mission Statement

Climate Action North Carolina is a project of the League of Conservation Voters that will use grassroots organizing to turn environmental values into priorities for the state of North Carolina. Through online and offline activism in Greensboro, Raleigh, and Charlotte, we will advocate for sound environmental policies at the local and national levels and work to elect pro-environment candidates who will adopt and implement such policies. Together, we'll move North Carolina towards a clean energy future, push our elected officials to address the threat of climate change, and protect our planet for future generations to enjoy.

Description

LCV works to turn environmental values into national, state and local priorities. LCV, in collaboration with our state LCV partners, advocates for sound environmental laws and policies, holds elected officials accountable for their votes and actions, and elects pro-environment candidates who will champion our priority issues. LCV works to educate the public, lobby Congress and the administration, build coalitions, promote grassroots power, and train the next generation of environmental leaders as part of our grassroots efforts. LCV's National Environmental Scorecard provides objective, factual information about the most important environmental legislation considered and the corresponding voting records of all members. The Scorecard represents the consensus of experts from about 20 respected environmental and conservation organizations who select the key votes on which members of Congress should be scored. LCV scores votes on the most important issues each year, including energy, global warming, public health, public lands and wildlife conservation, and spending for environmental programs.
