Mission Statement

Crittenton Children's Center is a faith-based, not for profit organization dedicated to providing the highest quality innovative behavioral health services to children and families as part of the Saint Luke's Health System.

Description

We began as the Florence Crittenton Home for unwed mothers, founded in 1896 by Mr. Charles Crittenton in memory of his 4-year old daughter who died of scarlet fever. Mr. Crittenton established 64 of these homes across America, one of which was located in the Kansas City River Market.

Today, we offer children and families a comprehensive continuum of care. This includes a 46-bed acute psychiatric hospital for children ages 5-18, an intensive residential treatment center for 73 male and female adolescents ages 13-18, an Individualized Supported Living (ISL) program for chronically ill adolescents ages 17-21, an adolescent chemical dependency intensive outpatient treatment program, a foster care case management program serving approximately 70 children, school-based intervention and family wellness, and in-home treatment in Kansas City's northland area.
