Mission Statement

We will cultivate an environment where technology is a part of the academic culture empowering students to meet or exceed state academic standards in all content areas using traditional and innovative technologies.

We will expand the school community beyond the physical campus benefiting from local and global resources.

We will develop independent life-long critical thinkers and learners by setting high expectations and fostering an awareness of cultural diversity and gender equity.

Description

MIT is a small nurturing middle school built on Caught in the Middle principles with strong academic goals integrated within a technology culture. We focus on students in grades 6, 7 & 8 and their special needs. Included in our academic community is the Bridges to English Program, a program for newcomers to our country. After these students gain English language skills they have the opportunity to apply to attend the MIT program. Any elementary student in the Redwood City School District may apply to attend MIT. We are a districtwide magnet school on a single track year round calendar so every student must apply to attend, there are no automatic feeder schools. We encourage visitors to our campus. On Friday mornings we give tours of the campus; therefore if you are interested please call our main office to arrange reservations. We are proud of our full enrollment and growing waiting list. In addition, we are excited with the reception we have received here in Redwood City and look forward to serving the middle school students of our district.
