Mission Statement

Seattle Public Theater is a growing organization. Our purpose is to use theater for social change. We work in three distict areas; Main Stage performances, touring, and interactive theater. We develop plays about social issues which tour western Washington schools and regional theaters. Our Theater of Liberation program is nationally recognized for using Augusto Boal's Theater of the Oppressed techniques to develop commmunity awareness and dialogue. We are also the new tenants of the Bathhouse Theater at Greenlake.

Description

On a typical day we'll be: writing a proposal to develop a play for use in environmental education; taking phone calls to rent our performance space, taking calls to reserve seats at our Theater of Liberation performances, and all those other regular office duties like raising money and paying bills! For fun we talk about the future and find ways to become more effective in what we do.
