Art Works is part of Recovery Innovations, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with branches in five states across the US and in New Zealand.

The mission of Recovery Innovations is "to create environments and opportunities that empower people to recover, to succeed in accomplishing their goals, and to reconnect to themselves, others, and meaning and purpose in life."

Description

The Art Works Gallery is located in the beautiful and historic Mission Inn district of Downtown Riverside and has been located on 6th Street since 2008. At Art Works, we use creative arts for wellness and recovery for individuals who have experienced mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder.

Art Works has several avenues of outreach and education. Our exhibitions rotate every one to three months, and we also show work as a guest in local community sites. We hold classes in all areas of the creative arts at our gallery space five days a week. We have a Friday evening workshop series called "After Works" that's designed as a community arts outreach, bringing local community members and artists together with our regular students for weekly evening events. And we have a mobile arts outreach unit that goes into underserved populations to teach mental health recovery skills using arts.
