Mission Statement

The Avon Foundation was founded in 1955 with the mission to improve the lives of women and their families. Avon proudly supports breast cancer programs in more than 50 countries. As of 2005, more than $400 million has been raised and donated worldwide, with the majority of the fundraising driven by U.S. initiatives. Funds are awarded for breast cancer scientific research, access to treatment, diagnosis and screening, support services, and education and awareness, all with a focus on the medically underserved. Beneficiaries range from leading cancer centers to community-based non-profit breast health programs.

Description

The Avon Walk is a marathon walk (or a marathon and a half!) spread-out over a Saturday and Sunday. You can walk as far as you choose, but if you walk the entire distance, you will travel just over 39 miles total throughout the weekend. Most Walkers aim to walk at least the distance of a marathon (26.2 miles), which you can spread out over both days. Or, you can choose to walk a full marathon on Saturday, and then add an extra half-marathon (13.1 miles) on Sunday. Again, how far you walk is your choice, and you can make up your mind (or change it) right on the spot!
