Mission Statement

Educating Communities for Parenting (ECP) is dedicated to helping youngsters understand the need to be caring compassionate individuals now and nurturing responsible adults in the future.

Our programs are built upon well-researched and field-tested curricula and can be adapted to fulfill the needs of diverse populations. ECP provides programs for youth of all ages in a variety of settings including public, charter and independent schools; after school programs, juvenile detention centers, and alternative educational environments.

By using the healthy parent-child relationship as the role model for all relationships, ECP works to reduce student violence in schools, lower the rate of teen pregnancies, and break the cycle of child neglect and abuse. ECP's mission is to provide a strong future for this generation of children and for the generations that will follow.

Eduating Communities for Parenting has been providing pre-parenting and parenting education for well over a quarter century. The foundation for all ECP programs is our research based curriculum originally developed in 1979 and continually updated to reflect new findings, evaluation feedback, and to meet the needs of specific popuations. ECP currenty has partnerships with the Department of Human Services, the School District of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Youth Study Center, Communities in Schools, Juvenile Probation, Northern Home for Children, Beacon Centers and the Mayor's Office for Re-Entry of Ex-Offenders.
