Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Each and every day, the Jewish Federation of Broward County joins together the human and financial resources of our community to save and improve Jewish lives in our own community, in Israel and around the world.
To accomplish this mission, the Federation acts in concert with our network of beneficiary agencies to: safeguard and address the educational and social service needs of our local community; perpetuate our rich traditions and Jewish heritage and ensure the continuity and survival of our Jewish family in Israel and around the world.
The Jewish Federation of Broward County (formerly The United Jewish Community of Broward County) raises funds to support the crucial work of 30 social and humanitarian agencies that help Jews in need in our own community, in Israel, and around the world.
Here in Broward County, our local beneficiary agencies touch the lives of thousands of people each and every day. They provide support and services for Jews of all ages, all interests, all incomes, and all backgrounds.
Through their work, these agencies carry out the loftiest precepts of our Jewish heritage. They do this through senior centers that offer a host of activities for the increasing numbers of active seniors, and provide adult day care to the less active. They also provide nourishing kosher meals either on-site or to the homebound.
Through our Jewish community centers our young learn all about Judaism and the basics of their people's traditions; and adults, singles and families can enjoy a wonderful array of social, cultural, educational and recreational programs.
How else do we make a difference? Thousands of Jewish youths continue to enjoy high-level Jewish and general curricula at Federation-supported Jewish day schools. At the same time, families facing the trauma of divorce, the difficulties of adolescence, and the painful web of substance addiction, can turn to Jewish Family Service for expert advice and help.
Every other year, dozens of Broward teenagers also join the thousands of Jewish teens taking part in the Central Agency for Jewish Education-administered March of the Living program, where they can feel the spiritual elation of journeying from the tragic sites of the Holocaust, in Poland, to the joy of our Jewish State - and the celebration of Israel Independence Day.
Throughout Broward County we are blessed, as well, with an abundance of synagogues led by skilled and gifted rabbis who, no matter what their affiliation, are educators, counselors - and leaders. Through our synagogues we affiliate ourselves not only with our religious beliefs, but also with our friends, our neighbors, our associates, and our colleagues.
As Jews, as part of a community, we give ourselves the gifts of belonging ... of connecting ... of caring.
