Mission Statement

The South Main Alliance serves its members by protecting and enhancing the diverse and vigorous institutions and communities located along the southern portion of Houston's Main Street. Here, HOUSTON'S H.E.A.R.T. TM services are offered daily through our members' efforts in Health, Education, Art, Recreation and Technology. Collectively, our goal is a South Main area that is a haven where people of different backgrounds can live, work, learn, heal, play and worship - a special and unique Texas place that is valued here and recognized worldwide as the heart of a great city.

Description

In 2005, the South Main Center Association (SMCA) was renamed the South Main Alliance. SMCA, which formed in 1976, was Houston's first area association and was created as a non-profit neighborhood organization to protect, preserve and enhance a "Unique Texas Place." Over the past century, this unique neighborhood of magnificent oak trees and great institutions has developed into a thriving center of learning, celebration and compassionate care.

The South Main Center Association (SMCA), now named the South Main Alliance, was designated as a Transportation Management Organization (TMO) that is now named Houston's H.E.A.R.T. TM Access & Mobility Center.
