Mission Statement

The purpose of this Corporation shall be to support and promote Concord Point Lighthouse and the John O'Neill House as historical landmarks, to preserve and improve the existing properties by sponsoring, promoting, initiating and conducting such charitable and educational programs as are deemed feasible by the Corporation, and to encourage broadest possible participation by individuals and groups toward these purposes.

Description

The Concord Point Lighthouse and Light Keeper's House were both built in 1827. The first light keeper assigned was John O'Neill, who is a local folk hero. John fought the English as they attacked the town of Havre de Grace during the War of 1812. John's descendents are still living in Havre de Grace.

In addition to the historical attraction, the lighthouse is one of the key tourist attractions in the town. With over 9,000 visitors during the 2006 season (April through October), the lighthouse is a significant draw for the rest of the businesses in Havre de Grace.
