Mission Statement

Deconstruction & ReUse Network is an environmental and social benefit organization, 501(c)(3) promoting and empowering deconstruction practices and the reuse of quality building materials and surplus property.

Here's how our program works. If a property owner is about to undertake a major remodel / tenant improvement project or will be tearing down their structure, there is an opportunity to donate the building materials and in some cases, surplus property to Deconstruction & ReUse Network (DRN) and receive a tax deduction for their donation. DRN will help the owner access if deconstruction and reuse is a solution that will meet their needs.

To accomplish this, DRN will meet with the owner at the property to determine the scope of work. DRN's network of contractors will prepare proposals for deconstruction and for traditional demolition providing the owner with options.

DRN will photograph the building materials and, if applicable, surplus property, that maybe donated in order to provide an appraiser a reference (any donation over $5,000 requires an appraisal) in establishing an estimated donation value for the owner.

With these two figures, the cost of deconstruction and the estimated donation value, the owner can run the numbers and determine if our solution is a fit for their project.

If it is, DRN provides documentation of the process, oversight and project management with regard to the deconstruction, transportation of the materials to local and international non-profits and public entitiies in need of these materials, a final inventory of the donated matierals, and the tax documents necessary for their tax deduction.

The appraiser will provide the donor a final appraisal report to accompany the tax forms for filing their tax deduction.

DRN is able to divert up to 80% of a structure's building materials from the landfill and provide much needed help to those in need of assistance.
