Mission Statement
The mission of Rim of the World Education Foundation (ROTWEF) is to provide continuing financial support to preserve and encourage educational excellence in the Rim of the World Unified School District (ROTWUSD). The organization purpose is to strengthen relationships between local schools and communities through a variety of programs that directly benefit students and teachers in the classrooms.
The goals of the Rim Educational Foundation include:
• Provide ongoing financial support of the ROTWUSD through: a continuing endowment fund, fundraising, resource renewal, grants, and community donations
• Support educational excellence for all ROTWUSD students by encouraging student achievement through enhancing curriculum, improving classroom instruction, supporting innovative and creative projects, supporting staff development, and backing evidence-based programs such as AVID.
• Strengthen community involvement with ROTWUSD schools by acting as District
Ambassadors to other community organizations such as Rotary clubs, Realtor boards, Soroptimists, etc.
Description
To fulfill its mission of providing financial support to the ROTWUSD students and educators, the ROTWEF is dedicated to raising funds for the following programs:
Education Grants : The flagship program of the organization focuses on providing a great education for all students by funding individual classrooms/teachers for innovative and creative programs not available through traditional district funding streams. A competitive process each year funds approximately $20,000 to classrooms and teachers primarily in the ESTEM (Environmental, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program areas and Arts.
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Program : Since 2009, funding has been provided to increase college-going rates for students who traditionally not have had access to higher education. AVID is a highly successful national model that is currently serving105 middle and high school students at ROTWUSD.
Regional Occupational Program (ROP): Beginning in 2015, the Foundation is expanding its focus on college and career readiness to include the Regional Occupational Program (ROP ) that provides a variety of career education programs to prepare high school students for employment and/or advanced education and training.
