Mission Statement

The goal of the Young Leaders Summit is to promote educational and cultural fundamentals essential to young adults by addressing current issues that affect our communities, finding solutions to those issues in smaller group sessions facilitated by college students and professionals.

Description

MLK: Young Leaders Summit "Better Minds, Better Future," presented by the MLKCC Youth Committee -- a full day of leadership development activities designed specifically for emerging young leaders.

Additionally, we have integrated performances by high school/college students as well as musical performances by native celebrities and alike. The MLKCC Youth Committee presents the Youth Trailblazer Award to ten outstanding students, recognizing young adult leaders who are already making a difference, and continuing to keep the dream alive.

As we progress in developing this program, we’ve noticed a recent demand in re-branding and a call for advancement. This year will be our 6 th Annual Young Leaders Summit, formerly known as the MLKCC Teen Summit because this year we want to acknowledge not only high-school seniors who’ve answered the call of leadership, but college students as well. Giving this program the platform for college students to educate, develop, inspire, and mentor the emerging leaders who will soon follow in their foot-steps. Our vision is to continue to expand our marketability, the students we impact, our ability to provide quality engaging activities where our students and facilitators feel challenged to be an even greater leader once they leave our program.
