To lead and support educational and preservation efforts in our region to achieve a heightened awareness, understanding, enjoyment and caring for our natural environment.
The mission of Tanglewood Nature Center is to lead and support education and preservation efforts in our region to achieve a heightened awareness, understanding, enjoyment, and caring for our natural environment.
We strive to fulfill our mission every day by: maintaining over ten miles of trails, offering educational programming for children and adults, providing homes in our exhibits for more than 40 native and exotic animals, and welcoming over 35,000 visitors a year.
Our hours are Tuesday through Friday (9am-4pm) and Saturday (10am-4pm). Most volunteering will need to be done during our regular hours.
WHAT IS THE APPLICATION PROCESS LIKE? After you decide one of our projects sounds like a good fit for you, please fill out one of our volunteer applications - either on our website or pick up a paper copy at the office. Once that is received, we do a basic Sex Offender Registry check on all prospective volunteers, which can take several business days. Generally, within a week of getting the SOR cleared, the volunteer coordinator will email you to schedule a brief orientation/meeting with the volunteer coordinator to get you set up with your volunteer projects. After that, everything's easy!
