For the past two days volunteering, it couldn't have gone any better. They put you right on the job. Whenever I needed help, the other volunteers are more than happy to help. It is a great working experience especially talking and interviewing the litigants. It can be challenging working the system, but you'll get the hang of it later on.

I have been volunteering with NLS-LA at the San Fernando Courthouse, and the experience has been challenging and extremely rewarding. This is the perfect place to get practical experience for any one who has an interest in Law, and a possible desire to attend Law School or become a Paralegal. Each volunteer works face-to-face with litigants; we help empower litigants, we want them to learn and use their legal rights, and we help them navigate the legal system. You don't need to have any prior knowledge about the legal system, although, it is helpful. As a volunteer, we help litigants complete their paperwork and we work directly under supervising attorneys. This is an amazing opportunity to get as many as 35 hours a week. The application process is easy, the network and reference opportunities are extremely valuable. This opportunity is great for self-development and for your resume.
