Mission Statement

The Prisoners Revolutionary Literature Fund (PRLF, www.PRLF.org) is an educational literature fund that fills requests from U.S. prisoners for revolutionary literature.

The main requests received by PRLF from those behind bars are for complementary subscriptions in Spanish and English to the weekly newspaper Revolution* (www.revcom.us) and for revolutionary and other books, including ones highlighted in the newspaper. Through providing this literature, PRLF provides an educational opportunity for prisoners to engage with world events and key political, cultural, and philosophical questions of the day from a unique revolutionary perspective, including discussions of morality, religion, science, and the arts. Every week prisoners can delve into the urgent and lively news and debate about unfolding political and social struggles, and can critically think about and dissect the current state of society as well as search for an alternative.

PRLF works to counter increasing censorship that seeks to deny prisoners access to Revolution newspaper and the other revolutionary literature requested.

--------------------

Prisoners Revolutionary Literature Fund is a sponsored project of Global Exchange, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit international human rights organization.

Description

Prisoners Revolutionary Literature Fund sends revolutionary literature to hundreds of US prisoners in more than 35 states.

The letters we receive back from prisoners show the tremendous suppressed potential locked behind razorwire and concrete walls. We are currently having significant problems with our website, which when functional, shows hundreds of letters from prisoners testifying to the value and importance of our work.

Simply put, there is no other organization doing this work. There are many other organizations doing important work with prisoners, but none that offer the analysis and educational opportunity that comes from Revolution newspaper (revcom.us).

Please see our mission statement for more information, or email me at Mike@PRLF.org. I'm Mike Holman, the Executive Director.
