Mission Statement
To further the success of family violence prevention and intervention efforts in Solano County by reducing the incidence of abuse and neglect in families through education, intervention and collaboration with public and private organizations throughout Solano County.
Description
In order to reduce the incidence of family violence, the Solano County Office of Family Violence Prevention, in collaboration with the Sheriff's Department, Probation, Health and Social Services Child Welfare Division, Adult Protection Services, Superior Court, District Attorney, our local non-profit women's crisis organizations, and domestic violence council, developed the Solano County Family Violence Intervention Team (FIT). The FIT consists of a Sheriff's detective, an Investigative Social Worker, and Victim Resource Social Worker who work together to reduce the incidence of family violence in unincorporated Solano County.
The team conducts follow-up investigations as well as provides victims with: Crisis counseling Assessment of children and victims for resources and services Assistance in procuring emergency shelter / housing Temporary Restraining Orders and court accompaniment The team collaborates with Child Welfare Services, Probation, community service providers in Solano County and neighboring counties to obtain additional resources for the victims. FIT and OFVP staff provide Safe From The Start workshops to law enforcement officers, judicial officers, parent groups, day care providers, faith-based organizations, and any organization working with children and families.
