Mission Statement
The River Oaks Chamber Orchestra (ROCO) is a 40-member professional chamber orchestra in Houston that personalizes the orchestral experience by inviting the audience into the musician's world through interactive concerts with nationally and internationally recognized artists, exciting music old and new, and fun-to-read, magazine-style programs that promote Family Literacy in the Arts. ROCO performs at its home, St. John the Divine Episcopal Church and repeat performances at various locations.
Description
Founded by oboist Alecia Lawyer and now in its third season, ROCO continues its mission of developing relationships across the 'fourth wall' - or the intangible separation between stage and audience. The orchestra engages audience members in a conversation with the music, personalizing the orchestral experience through interactive concerts featuring highly acclaimed musicians, inspiring performances of old and new music, and engaging magazine-style programs.
