Description

Loaves & Fishes has been bringing the hungry fresh food daily in Greenville County since 1991. Our volunteers pick up and deliver perishable food items each day to agencies that provide assistance to those in need. We serve 100 agencies on a schedule that ranges from seven days a week to once a month, depending on the needs of the agency.

More than 62 generous food donors, ranging from grocery stores and restaurants to corporations, provide regular donations of perishable foods. ANother 146 donors call in with donations.

Fifty percent of the food we rescue iss upplied to agencies that proide primary meals and emergency food pantries for families and individuals. Senior citizens are the next largest single group, with deliveries going to low income senior housing and to senior centers. The balance of our recipient agencies are after school programs, nonprofit day cars, community centers and programs serving special populations. Loaves & Fishes delivers $10.51 of food for every dollar in our operating budget.
