Mission Statement
To provide self-sufficiency and empowerment of working families through quality education for children and their families.
Description
We are a non-profit organization that addresses the needs of both parents and children by providing comprehensive services through four components: Adult eduction, children's education, parent education, and parent and child together time.
Adult Education: Raises the education level of parents and helps them gain the motivation, skills, and knowledge needed to become employed or to pursue further education or training.
Children's Education: Increases the developmental skills of preschool children and better prepares them for academic and social success in school. Tutoring, reading and homework assistance is also provided for children in grades K-3.
Parent Education: Provides parents the opportunity to share their concerns with a trained instructor and/or their peers, helps them learn new parenting strategies and deal more effectively with day-to-day challenges.
Parent and Child Together Time: Provides role models and structured situations for positive parent-child interaction, empowers parents in their roles as the primary teachers of their own children.
The program serves participants mainly from the West Tampa area, a neighborhood with one of the highest poverty levels in the county.
