Mission Statement

To teach adults and their families to read and/or to improve their literacy skills and to instill in all those served a commitment to lifelong learning.

Description

The Burke County Literacy Council is a non-profit organization that trains volunteers to tutor adults in the community who need help with reading. The Council has classes to train parents to take a more active role in their children's education, teaches English to speakers of other languages, and holds classes to help pass the INS examination. Enrollment into our classes and for one-to-one tutoring is open at all times. All training, classes, and materials are free of charge.
