Mission Statement
The mission of Parents of Children with all Special Needs (P.O.C.W.A.S.N.) is to cultivate authentic growth and new development in the lives of the people that we serve through the provision of quality services. We are devoted to supporting the parents and caretakers with a blend of traditional and non-traditional respite care services. P.O.C.W.A.S.N. offers rejuvenating services to parents and caretakers, helping to foster strong, self-sufficent families, resilient and joyful children, and vibrant communities. Overall, P.O.C.W.A.S.N. works to lift the caregiver and family out of isolation, protect them from societal neglect, and ensure their access to quality healthcare, continued education and a supportive, resourced community.
Description
Founded in 2010, P.O.C.W.A.S.N. is a community based non-profit caregiver and family resource center located in Reseda, in north Los Angeles County. Annually, 75 caregivers and parents benefit from core services that are organized into four divisions: Supportive Services, Education, Advocacy, and Group Meetings. Parent, education, family, and economic development programs work with parents to develop the ir capacity as advocates and champions for their children. The Supportive Services and Educational programs bring parents and caretakers the holistic support and resources needed to soundly care for themselves, which then in turn allows them to care for their children. All of the P.O.C.W.A.S.N. programs and services assist the caregiver or parent, providing them with the tools needed to live socially, emotionally healthy and prosperous lives.
