Mission Statement

Central Vt. Council on Aging is dedicated to planning, development, and coordination of services that support elders in leading healthy, independent, meaningful and dignified lives in their own homes and communities.

Neighbor to Neighbor is an AmeriCorps program, sponsored by CVCOA as well as Vermont's other Area Agencies on Aging Champlain Valley Agency on Aging (Burlington area), Northeastern Vt. Agency on Aging (St. Johnsbury area), and the Southwestern Vt. Council on Aging (Rutland area).

Neighbor to Neighbor's mission is serving elders and people with disabilities by helping them live independently while aging successfully in the setting of their choice.

Description

Neighbor to Neighbor AmeriCorps is a national service program, with funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service, Members are distributed around the state, hosted at the Area Agencies on Aging. A regional coordinator gives direction to each team of members. Members do direct sevices, community development, partnership building with schools, senior centers, and community organizations, and community service learning. Member development and leadership and human service skills are high priorities.
