The vision of the Family Violence Project is a community where violence is unacceptable and people treat each other with respect.
The mission of the Family Violence Project is to fulfill its vision by promoting individuals' safety; intervening with batterers to hold them accountable; supporting individuals' capacity to change and to take responsibility for their actions; educating communities about domestic abuse; and assisting in creating public policy which promotes the safety of individuals and the accountability of abusers.
Description
The Family Violence Project is a private, non-profit agency offering services to victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse in Central Maine . Our services include advocacy and crisis intervention, a batterer's intervention program, community and school-based prevention and education, and shelters in both Kennebec and Somerset counties. The work of our paid staff is both enhanced and extended by our volunteer staff.
