Mission Statement

Washington School for Girls (WSG) is an independent Catholic school that seeks to close the educational gap and broaden the educational opportunities for girls from economically disadvantaged communities in grades 3-8. The school provides an excellent academic program and supportive environment which engages families and the community in the social, emotional, and spiritual growth of its students and graduates.

Description

The Washington School for Girls is an independent Catholic School, privately financed, serving an at-risk population in the Southeast quadrant of Washington, DC. WSG is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. WSG provides a caring and safe environment for young girls, grades 3 through 8, who are living in an under-served urban area and are at risk of leaving school prematurely. Students receive a solid and holistic education, featuring intellectual challenge, respect for diversity, and support for the spiritual, social and emotional growth of each student. WSG works with each student to identify the best high school placement and tracks her progress throughout.
