Mission Statement

Our mission is to reduce the negative impact that sexually abused children and their non-offending family members can experience by providing a neutral, child-friendly facility where competent investigative and advocacy services from a multi-disciplinary team of child abuse professionals are provided. We also promote the prevention of child abuse through the facilitation of educational presentations to children, families, commmunity groups, and the county at large about child abuse issues.

Description

The Child Advocacy Center is a program of the Nord Center offering child surivors of sexual abuse and their non-offending parents support, education, crisis intervention and legal advocacy from the inception of the investigative process through legal outcome. The Child Advocacy Center also offers child sexual abuse prevention education presentations to students and faculty grades K through 12th in Lorain County. Finally, the Child Advocacy Center offers special activities throughout the year in an effort to bring public awareness on child sexual abuse issues to agencies, special interest groups, city governments, and community members.
