Mission Statement
COMEA House provides safe and secure emergency shelter to homeless adults and families; offers transitional housing for single adults; and collaborates to create opportunities for self-sufficiency.
Description
COMEA House is a 30-day emergency shelter for men, women, and families. Clients at the shelter receive a hot, nutritious meal at night and breakfast in the morning; showers; access to the free clothing pantry; and free medical attention at Cheyenne Crossroads Clinic next door. Currently, the shelter can accommodate 65 men and women and 2 families at a time.
In addition to the emergency shelter, COMEA House also has a Transitional Living Program, or TLP. The TLP opened in December 2005, and thus far has been a tremendous success.
The TLP consists of twelve efficiency apartments built onto the shelter. Two of these apartments are handicap-accessible, and all of them are currently full. The purpose of the TLP is to help homeless men and women transition from homelessness into self-sufficiency.
