Description

The Claysville Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1917. The department has a current roster of 28 members including 14 Emergency Medical Technicians,3 First Responders and 1 Paramedic. The department provides fire, rescue and emergency medical services to Claysville Boro, Donegal Township, Buffalo Township, Blaine Township, portions of East Finley Township and West Finley Township as well as Interstate 70 from the West Virginia state line to North Franklin Township. The department will also provide mutual aide response to any department as requested. This represents a total coverage area of at least 97 square miles and population of about 7100. The department responds to an average of 700 calls per year. These include fire related calls, rescue, emergency medical service calls, hazmat, public service calls, good intent calls, false alarms and special incidents. CVFD operates a total of six vehicles: Engine 31, Rescue 31, Tanker 31, Brush Truck 31, Squad 31 and Medic 31. The department also houses and delivers, as requested, a hazardous material supply trailer in cooperation with Region 13 and The Washington County Department of Public Safety Hazardous Material Team. The department’s rescue and medic unit are both certified by the state of Pennsylvania Department of Health. The department is very active in community, and allows groups to utilize our facilities for their meeting and special activities, including the 4H, Boy Scouts and we are co-sponsors of the annual 911 Remembrance Day in conjunction with the Claysville American Legion and the Claysville Council of Churches. The Department’s primary source of income is private donations in conjunction with the frequent fund raisers which include tool bashes, cash bashes, ladies night out, ticket sales and the annual Claysville Volunteer Fire Department Festival which is always the last Saturday in July and is the largest event the department conducts. The Claysville Volunteer Fire Department is an all volunteer department with a mission to provide the highest level of emergency services to the citizens who call 911 and place their trust in our ability to help them in their time of need.
