Mission Statement

To preserve the beauty and biodiversity of the earth, and to provide programs so that every child may know the joy of nature.

Description

The Wildlands Conservancy Oak Glen Preserve is situated at 5,024 ft., adjacent to the steep escarpment of Yucaipa Ridge in San Bernardino National Forest. The preserve headquarters are at scenic Los Rios Rancho, southern California's largest historic apple ranch.

The Wildlands Conservancy property includes a nature trail that meanders through an evergreen forest, past ponds, and under the canopy of a deciduous California black oak forest which opens onto a south-facing chaparral hill side. The return trail follows a willow shaded stream onto a boardwalk through wetlands that are replete with butterflies when the area is in bloom.

From September through June The Wildlands Conservancy provides outdoor education programs for elementary school children. The trail and picnic areas are open to the public on Saturday and Sundays all year long. Additionally, weekly and monthly evening programs are offered to families at various times of the year. The Wildlands Conservancy, in believing that all people should have the opportunity to experience nature, does not charge for any of its school or public programs or for the use of the trail or picnic areas.
