Indego Africa Project is a partnership between African communities and volunteers committed to alleviating poverty and chronic unemployment in Africa by providing reliable income, developing job skills, and affording access to export markets, with the goal of creating and supporting sustainable businesses.
Indego Africa is a U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit that sells handicrafts designed and made by artisans who work with its partner organizations in Africa (Website).
Indego Africa partners are existing community groups in African nations dedicated to teaching employable skills to their communities. Indego Africa handicrafts will be sold in their country of origin, in retail stores in the US and Europe, and on the website (eventually). Indego Africa is searching or retailers interested in handicraft products with aesthetic appeal, unique design features, cultural significance and a compelling narrative.
Through innovative marketing and a commitment to transparency and business ethics, Indego Africa consumers can be confident that products they buy and donations they make will directly support worthy development projects. For a sampling of our current products, please click here: Our Products.
Indego Africa is more than an exporter and importer, and more than a simple non-profit; it hopes to attack the foundations of poverty by fostering sustainable businesses. Indego Africa is a non-profit organization, that operates like a business, but will give all profits (100%) from sales and donations back to the facilities and communities that generated such profit. Indego Africa and its supporters strongly believe in fair trade and are committed to both paying artisans fairly and re-investing in the communities that support artisans.
