Mission Statement
The American River Salmon Festival serves to help people develop a better understanding and appreciation for the river and its connection to their watershed, and the role they can play to protect these resources. It provides an opportunity for the public to celebrate the strong salmon run on this river.
Description
The annual Salmon Festival increases public understanding, appreciation and conservatin of the King Salmon and the American River. The Festival benefits approximately 20,000 people attending the two day event. The event is held Oct 11 and 12, 2008 to coincide with the return of salmon to their spawning grounds. The Salmon Festival offers opportunities for families to connect directly with nature through rafting, canoeing, fishing, and strolling along the river bluff. Forty-five diverse activities, food and entertainment mean fun for everyone! The event showcases recreational, artistic, culinary, cultural and educational activities.
