Mission Statement

Food to Power is a non-profit organization whose goal is to create a more just and less wasteful food system. We facilitate the sustainable redistribution of food "waste" to agencies that feed hungry, homeless, and low-income populations while educating communities about and advocating for food justice and the reduction of structural poverty.

Description

Food to Power functions through a volunteer based direct redistribution programming, picking up food that would otherwise be thrown out and delivering that food directly to an organization that will disperse that food to those in need. These volunteers mainly deliver the food by bicycle.

Supporting this organization is so easy, and the work they do makes a real impact to people in our community. Anyone can agree that putting food to use which would otherwise simply be thrown out is a great goal, and using it to help those in need is a noble effort. I work a regular schedule with CS Food Rescue; I simply call my donor each week and pick up food they have for delivery on my way home from work. Everyone wins with this organization, and I'm proud to be a part of it!
