Mission Statement

Temple Micah is a Reform Jewish congregation dedicated to the spiritual fulfillment of its members. We value religious observance enhanced by social action, intellectual challenge, lifelong Jewish learning and beautiful music. Our diverse and welcoming community nurtures personal connections through active participation in a vibrant temple life.

Description

Temple Micah is a teaching, caring and doing congregation. We are at once traditional and innovative, combining a good helping of time-honored ritual with groundbreaking, new approaches to Jewish life. We put a premium on creativity, experimentation and learning.

We respect and love our senior rabbi, Daniel G. Zemel, for his intellectual rigor, his devotion to Judaism, his spiritual guidance and his unparalleled humor. We work with an associate rabbi, Toby H. Manewith, a Jewish educator and welcome our new Education Director, Rabbi Susan Warshaw, who will help us to remain vibrant and to maintain a community feel even as we grow.

Social action is of supreme importance to us: We create a tzedakah project for every Jewish holiday to remind us that our religion requires that we help heal the world. Our b'nai mitzvah students take on special projects that mean something to them.

We have fun. We delight in delicious food, and raise money by preparing gourmet meals for each other. Exquisite music adds beauty and emotional richness to our services, and our youth and adult choirs allow many congregants to join in the creation of something extraordinary. Our children are active, central participants in temple life.
