Mission Statement

Southwark Elementary School promotes a safe and supportive environment that respects the diverse student population and the community it serves. The purpose of our school is to educate the whole child and to challenge students to reach their fullest potential in all academic areas in order to become productive members of society. Southwark Elementary School strives to provide a rigorous, standards-driven curriculum that is student-centered and geared towards developing critical thinking skills.

Description

Southwark School is a diverse K-8 public school in South Philly, specifically within the neighborhood of East Passyunk Crossing. As of 2013-2014, 90% of our students are considered "economically disadvantaged" by the Philly School District. We have families from all over the world, and regularly have seven translators to help us communicate with our parents. According to the District's data, 58% of our students are "ELL" or "English Language Learners."
